Make Welton Lane Safer

Please sign our petition to try and get the local councils to make Welton Lane safer for local residents.

Along with local residents and officers at Daventry Town Council, Cllr Alan Knape has been trying to make Welton Lane safer. At the moment the 40mph limit doesn’t feel safe when walking alongside the road or crossing from one side to the other. What makes it even worse is when vehicles exceed this speed limit.

We have come up with two ways to improve safety on the road. The first is to install an electronic radar sign to remind drivers of the speed limit and to show them how fast they are driving. The second is to get the speed limit reduced to 30mph.

Currently it is difficult to get the highways department to get this done but if we can get local residents behind this then hopefully we can finally get some improvements.

Cllr Alan Knape said ‘It is not right pedestrians take their lives into their own hands when navigating Welton Lane.’
