Help to raise money for West Northants Liberal Democrats and potentially win over £100 a month in prizes by joining our Brian Hoare 200 club!

About Brian Hoare

Brian Hoare was a stalwart member of the Northampton Liberal Democrats for more than 20 years. He was elected to the Northampton Borough Council for Abington ward in 2003 and served the area until he lost his seat in 2011. He also was elected to Northamptonshire County Council representing Abington in 2005 and missed out holding the seat in 2009 by just 9 votes. When the Liberal Democrats first took control of Northampton Borough Council in 2007 he served as Leader of the Council from 2009 -2011 and was instrumental in getting the council out of special measures. Brian was a dedicated Lib Dem and undertook a number of roles in the party serving as party Chair and Treasurer and was a key person in the campaigns to win control of the Borough council in 2007 and come so close in the Northampton North parliamentary constituency in 2010. He also ran the Northampton Lib Dem 100 Club which was crucial in helping raise funds for campaigns. Brian was diagnosed with throat cancer in August 2019 but kept most people from the news and instead carried on his relentless work in helping rebuild the party. Right up until a few days before he died in November 2019, he was supporting the Lib Dem Council Group on drafting a policy motion. Outside of politics Brian was a committed family man and Saints supporter. For those of us who were lucky enough to work with him it seemed fitting that we should name our 200 club after his memory.

What is the 200 Club and how does it work?

Our 200 club helps to raise funds for local campaigning, all of which will be vital to forthcoming general and local elections, whilst giving you the opportunity to win over £100 a month and have some fun!

There are 200 numbers available and for just £5 per number, per month, and you can buy as many as you like while they are still available. You must commit to keeping the same number(s) for a year. Each month, we will hold a draw at the beginning of each month. Yes, if you were very lucky you could win all three prizes in one month. We will announce the lucky winners to all club members via Facebook and email and their winnings will be transferred direct to their bank accounts by BACS. The rest of the income generated from the monthly subscriptions will go to supporting the local party.

What is the value of the monthly prize?

The prize fund is set by the number of entrants in each month's draw with a jackpot prize at Christmas - typically first prize will be set to £1 times the number of entrants. So for 100 Entrants we would typically get

1st prize - £100 | 2nd prize - £60 | 3rd prize - £40 | 4th prize - £25

If you're lucky, however, you could end up winning multiple prizes!

Participants must set up a standing order:

  2. Contact Carl Squires by email at BH 200 Club Organiser to enquire about the numbers available - or you be assigned the next free numbers
  3. Fill in an application form - click to download
  4. Use the attachment on the application form to inform your bank or contact your bank and set up a standing order payable to: West Northamptonshire Liberal Democrats (BH 100 Club) Account Number: 20484596 Sort Code: 60-83-01. The reference should be your first name and surname and ideally, we ask that the payment is made on 1st of each month. Many banks online access will allow you to setup a scheduled payment (aka a standing order) Use the above details  but be aware that some banks have a reduced field for the account name so you might get a mismatch - as long as the account number and sort codes are correct this will not affect your payment

Participants must be 16 or over.
