Created from the Northampton Borough council and the 2 district councils of Daventry and South Northants, melded with the western half of the old Northamptonshire County Council the new unitary authority of West Northants Council was cobbled together due to overwhelming financial mismanagement at the county and in Northampton by the incumbent Tory councillors
