Lib Dems Call for Local Solutions to Care for the Elderly
There are concerns that Conservative run West Northants Council (WNC) is preparing the way for the closure of a much valued Care Home in Towcester
Biography:
Stewart has lived in South Northamptonshire since 2014 and currently serves on Old Stratford Parish Council. He holds a PhD in political history and currently works in recruitment, visiting schools and colleges to encourage students to go to university. He also continues to do some teaching for Oxford University, working with people who are often coming back into education later in life at the Department of Continuing Education. Stewart says ‘I am passionate about education and skills for everyone no matter their age’.
Stewart wants to build on his experience in local government and fight for causes that are meaningful to everyone in South Northamptonshire, particularly the cost of living crisis and the problems of overdevelopment in places like Deanshanger and Towcester. He has also seen how the government’s disastrous Brexit deal has damaged many farmers and how river pollution has affected the local environment. Stewart wants to take the positive Lib Dem message to the doorstep saying ‘I look forward to the opportunity to fight for these issues and become a local champion for the constituency in Westminster’.

The Government has failed to inject money and support local communities in Northampton after last week’s so-called Levelling Up funding announcement. No surprise that Rishi Sunak’s own constituency of Richmond in Yorkshire received £19m of levelling up funding, and much of the rest is going to relatively wealthy areas in the South East.
