Following the resignation of the councillor elected last May for Reform who attended so few meetings that he was about to be thrown off the Council, there is a by election on 7th May.

“I am committed to this area,” said Steve Shellabear. “I love living here and I want our area to thrive. By electing me as your first ever Lib Dem councillor you can help make sure that we focus on local issues and there is more challenge to how our money is spent. I believe we can get a better deal from the Council and make sure that this area gets what it needs.”

Steve Shellabear lives in the heart of the area in Roade with his son and belongs to the Roade Community Choir.
The election is for the Hackleton & Roade ward on West Northants Council (WNC) which includes the villages of Ashton, Blisworth, Courteenhall, Hackleton, Hartwell, Milton Malsor, Piddington, Quinton, Roade, Shutlanger, Stoke Bruerne and the surrounding area.

“My priorities include quite a lot around roads and pavements, making sure we hold the Council to account for pothole repairs,” said Steve, “as well as taking action at speeding hot spots and improving road safety outside schools. I also want to protect our villages and green spaces including making sure that developers pay towards improved local services.”

Here in West Northamptonshire, after Reform UK, the Lib Dems were the only other party to gain council seats at the local elections. The Green party do not have any councillors elected.
The Lib Dems are the best placed alternative to Reform and the Conservatives in this area and Steve Shellabear is standing as the local choice for a hardworking councillor who will put our village communities first.
