Stunning victory for the Lib Dems in East Hunsbury and Shelfleys

West Northants Council has a brand new Liberal Democrat Councillor. Carl Squires won the East Hunsbury and Shelfleys by-election caused by the resignation of a Conservative councillor.

The results were:
LD - 820 (+15.8%)
Con 746 (-16.9%)
Lab - 547 (+1.1%)

Cllr Carl Squires thanks everyone who voted for him and helped with the campaign.

He said last night to local democracy reporter Nadia Lincoln:
"I have lived in the area for 37 years and so know it will and will be representing the people of East and West Hunsbury equally.
I want to work with the Conservatives to get the bus returned to Hunsbury and will also be focusing on green and environmental topics."
