“Conservatives are failing Northamptonshire’s children” Cllr Brendan Glynane

The Leader of the Official Liberal Democrat Opposition at County Hall, Cllr Brendan Glynane, has slammed the Conservative administration after figures emerged that showed only 46% of children attended secondary schools rated "good" or "outstanding" in the county. Northamptonshire was ranked 133rd out of 155 authorities.

Cllr Glynane said "Educating our children is the most important way to tackle inequality and ensure that our future is bright. A good education is the path to a better life full of opportunity, where any child can reach their potential regardless of their background."

"Sadly the Conservatives are utterly failing the young people of Northamptonshire. We have had years of below average GCSE results, the shambles of poor planning for school places leading to entirely inappropriate proposals for office blocks to be used as school buildings, and now this shocking failure."

"It is completely unacceptable for children and their families to be let down in this way. How are our young people supposed to get a decent education when the schools in our county are ranked so poorly? The Conservatives track record on educating our young people is inexcusable."
